I learned how to get rid of mosquitoes as a child because I was chubby, so they adored me. I used to be all bitten and unhappy. But luckily there were moms and grandmas and homemade preparations to protect against these summer plagues. To prolong their species, you only need a little bit of water. And then new little bloodsuckers arrive. They only need a little of our blood to stay alive. How To Get Rid Of Mosquitoes?

And whether they are attracted to us, the females decide by our smell. They are known of involving all their senses to decide whether to bite us or not. And the answer to the question of why they bite us is because they need proteins from our blood to prolong the species and produce eggs.

What Attracts Mosquitoes The Most?

The carbon dioxide we exhale, along with various chemicals, creates an odor that mosquitoes can smell even 30 meters away from us, scientists claim. Each person releases more than 300 different chemicals from the skin, and as many as 100 of them are in our breath. Also, the smell of the skin, to which mosquitoes react, depends on the type of mosquitos.

Yellow and tiger mosquitoes react to lactic acid, and Anopheles species are attracted to fatty acids. The mixture of chemicals and odors depends on us. Makeup, cosmetics, nutrition, skin pH … All this is crucial for mosquitoes to decide whether we will be their victim.

How To Get Rid Of Mosquitoes?

There are several ways in which these temptations can be repelled, but in this text, I bring only the most effective ones, as well as the home-made recipes of my mother and grandmother who saved me. I was especially attractive to mosquitoes as a little girl, plump and sweet, my blood was probably a real treat for them.

Lemon and cinnamon

Just cut a lemon in half and sprinkle it with cinnamon. This is so disgusting to mosquitoes that they will surely leave you alone.

Citronella

This is a subspecies of lemongrass and the best protection against insects, especially mosquitoes. It is best to lubricate the skin before going out, and then repeat the application of this oil every 2-3 hours if you’re staying outside. There are also scented sticks with citronella that are used outdoors. You can also grow citronella as a houseplant and keep it indoors if you want protect yourself from mosquitoes.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil effectively repels mosquitoes, and at the same time improves skin health and alleviates many skin problems. In addition to mosquitoes, tea tree repel lice, ants, and other insects. Simply apply it to the skin and you are saved. Cinnamon, lavender, rosemary, cedar, geranium, peppermint, and macadamia oils are also very effective.

Apple cider vinegar

Applying apple cider vinegar not only repels mosquitoes but also cools the body during the great summer heat. It also helps maintain the pH of the skin. Mix apple cider vinegar and chopped parsley, then apply this mixture on the skin.

Garlic

We know that garlic is known for its many medicinal properties, but little is known that it also acts as a repellent, ie. protects us from mosquitoes and insects. If its smell doesn’t bother you and if it doesn’t bother the people around you, then rub garlic on your skin and you’ll be calm (and smelly). At the same time, arrange the garlic cloves at some places in the house so that you protect yourself even more.

Basil and vodka

Pour a handful of fresh basil with half a cup of boiling water, then strain after 4 hours. Mix with half a cup of vodka and pour it into a spray bottle. Shake and spray on the skin before use.

Also, you can put some plants that mosquitoes do not like (mint, citronella, lavender, primrose, basil, mint, rosemary) on the window and save yourself from their bites.

What Do Mosquitoes Like The Most?

  • sweet sweat
  • carbon dioxide
  • night
  • getting around
  • crowd (more victims)
  • beer (and alcohol in general)
  • pregnant women
  • 0 blood type
  • floral perfumes

Don’t Scratch

Scratching of the place of sting allows bacteria to enter the wound. This can lead to infection or inflammation. A blister may form there. It is especially important to pay attention to children and prevent them from scratching. An antihistamine can also be taken, which will relieve the itching. And it is good to know that the place of the sting can be smeared with aloe vera, custard, lemon, baking soda solution, black cumin oil, clay, banana peel.

These are just some of the ways to answer the question of how to get rid of mosquitoes. I hope this helped. I want you to be bypassed in a wide arc …
